Timeless Leadership Lessons from Gettysburg

I recently hosted a group of outstanding leaders from Intuit on a tour of Gettysburg. The trip was designed to celebrate their recognition for being the best of the best inside our company, as well as to honor the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Walking the battlefield with our tour guide (a West Point graduate and soldier himself) was an emotional and immersive experience that offered timeless lessons in leadership. As we studied the facts great leaders possessed at the crucial moment of decision, it reinforced for me that providing unwavering clarity, courage and leadership in the face of uncertainty are key attributes for what makes great leaders tick.
